In the Summer of 2018 in response to all the gun violence in schools and the Trump Administration’s desire to allow more guns in school to confront the problem. I took at comment directly from the mouth of our Education Secretary Betsy Devos and turned it into a performance art protest. What better venue then ArtPrize10 Grand Rapids. Right in the city that Mrs. Devos calls home, I would get to tell the world how incredibly inane I found her messaging about guns in school.

During her confirmation hearing, Devos responded to the question of guns as a means to protect students from marauding bears. Not to deescalate dangerous violent situations as they occurred….but to stop bears?!?

As a very concerned mother bear….as I have been compared to myself…I wasn’t having it!
